Custom iPhone Theme “Night Sky” (Updated)

Date: February 14th, 2009  Category: Things  Tags: , , ,   [ View Comments ]

A while back I posted my custom iPhone theme called “Night Sky”. I recently replaced the icons with a new set and wanted to repost the download. The new icons come from the theme called “Deep“. I also updated the SMS “bubbles” as well (matte finish).

“Twinkle” App aka. iPhone Party Line

Date: February 6th, 2009  Category: People, Things  Tags: , , , ,   [ View Comments ]

The iPhone app Twinkle was one of the better looking/working Twitter clients available for free when 3rd party apps were still new to the device. The app allows you to post tweets to your Twitter account as well as see others tweeting within so many miles of your location via the iPhone.

Cool right? Well sorta… Tapulous, the people who created Twinkle, also allow people without a Twitter account to post tweets via their own network/service. So, other than seeing my friends tweets (which is the point), I also have to withstand a constant stream of random idiots blabbing about all kinds of dumb shit and posting pics of things I really don’t need to see.

Basically you get a lot of “I’m bored – talk!” or “Hey, check out how sexy I am (pic attached)” etc. Oh, and let’s not forget about the occasional guy who sends me a pic of his junk and some creepy proposition. Even if I was gay I would still find it equally disturbing so, yeah, can we stop that now?

Not to pick on “kyri1″ but here’s a perfect example. As a matter of fact it’s the “straw that broke the camel’s back” and made me finally remove Twinkle and go with TwitterFon.

Custom iPhone Theme “Night Sky”

Date: November 2nd, 2008  Category: Things  Tags: , , ,   [ View Comments ]

I have a 16GB black Apple iPhone 3G. I love it. What would make this awesome device even better? The ability to change the theme of the phone including wallpaper, lock screen, icons, etc… Currently this is not possible with a vanilla iPhone 3G and iTunes.

So, one day I was bored and I decided to “jailbreak” my iPhone so I could add custom/non-approved applications onto the phone. One of the apps I added was Winterboard. This app gives you the ability to upload custom springboard (aka. desktop) themes to the phone and replace the default look of your device. But, the majority of the pre-made themes available sucked or I just didn’t like them. So I decided to make my own.

I present my custom iPhone theme for Winterboard – “Night Sky”

This theme was cobbled together from bits of other freely available themes. I added the custom wallpapers and did some other photoshop touch-ups. All in all a good looking theme. Enjoy…
